COMPANY NEWS:  Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) has attained ISO 19650 conformity and Level 2 BIM attestation from TÜV SÜD, reinforcing Autodesk's commitment to delivering customers resilient solutions for digital information management in construction projects.

Autodesk, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADSK) today announces that Autodesk Construction Cloud has received ISO 19650 conformity and additional Level 2 BIM attestation for its common data environment (CDE) from independent testing, inspection, and certification body TÜV SÜD. With this certification, ACC customers can now achieve ISO 19650 international conformity for projects, enabling them to meet the extensive requirements of the global ISO standard throughout the construction lifecycle.

“Achieving ISO 19650 certification from TÜV SÜD for Autodesk Construction Cloud underscores our commitment to providing a robust common data environment solution, ensuring seamless digital information management throughout the construction lifecycle and empowering our customers with superior project outcomes,” said Jeff Larrick, Senior Director, Construction Sales, APAC and Japan at Autodesk.

"Embracing ISO 19650 is not just about meeting compliance standards. It's a move towards streamlining operations, enhancing collaboration, and ultimately driving productivity. At its core, it's about leveraging digital construction methodologies to work smarter, not harder, and making every project a testament to efficiency and excellence," said Ken Soh, Senior Manager, AECO Strategy, ASEAN at Autodesk.

“Our customers are moving rapidly along the journey of digital transformation. Addressing governance with project delivery and information standards is critical to driving efficiency across the APAC region. Our customers can be confident that when using the Autodesk Construction Cloud and the Common Data Environment (CDE) that they are using a certified platform against the most robust standards for AECO globally,” said Mr Soh.

The ISO 19650 international standard is required for the management of information over the whole lifecycle of a built asset using building information modelling (BIM). To obtain ISO 19650 certification, an organisation must adopt compliant BIM processes and information management systems, document their procedures, engage a certification body for an audit, then address any non-conformities.

The lifecycle use of a CDE is especially mandatory and important for building owners that require the use of a CDE for the development of Digital Twins and need seamless data transfer from project phase (design and construction) to the operational phase, such as asset management and facility management.

Particularly in large public and industrial projects, many construction tenders consist of a mandatory ISO 19650 confirmation or attestation as a requirement to take part in tenders, and to submit a bid.

With this independent confirmation from TÜV SÜD, ACC customers such as building owners, design agencies, construction companies and other architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) companies can be assured that their digital information management and their Integrated Digital Delivery (IDD) is fully ISO 19650 compliant.

“To ensure full ISO 19650 compliance for Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), we developed a Proof Template to ensure any ACC customer can set up and operate this solution with all settings on roles and responsibilities, the correct metadata and important digital workflows – the safest and deepest way to test compliance,” said Sebastian Bolle, BIM Consultant from TÜV SÜD Advimo.

“The Proof Template not only demonstrates formal compliance for Autodesk Construction Cloud but is also a practical and powerful plug-and-play setup guide that customers can use to adjust their ACC solution rapidly for projects, saving time and mitigating risk,” said Tobias Schmidt, responsible for Digital Lifecycle Solutions at TÜV SÜD.

“ISO 19650 conformance in combination with a proven IDD excellence or with BIM Level 2 compliance is a true business driver for architects, engineers and construction companies. The Autodesk Construction Cloud template developed by TÜV SÜD makes it very convenient and safe for CDE users to comply with ISO 19650, and it’s also the first milestone to get an ISO 19650 Conformity assessment (certificate),” concluded Mr Schmidt.

Benefits of ISO 19650 compliance for Autodesk Construction Cloud customers

  • Enhanced Digital Information Management:The certification ensures that Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) meets the international standards for managing building information using BIM throughout the entire construction lifecycle, thereby improving the quality and reliability of digital workflows.
  • Enhanced Lifecycle Data Management:As a Common Data Environment (CDE), the Autodesk Construction Cloud platform supports seamless data transfer from the design and construction phases to the operational phase, which is crucial for the development and management of Digital Twins and asset management.
  • Facilitates Project Setup and Execution:The TÜV SÜD Proof Template simplifies the setup and operation of the Autodesk Construction Cloud for users, ensuring correct configurations and compliance with ISO 19650. This reduces setup time and minimises the risk of failing ISO 19650 checks or audits, which is especially beneficial for large projects and tenders requiring ISO 19650 conformity.
  • Traceability and Accountability: The ISO 19650 standard enforces the use of standardised naming conventions and unique reference codes for document iterations, enhancing the traceability and tracking of information. This systematic approach ensures accountability and clarity in information management throughout the asset lifecycle.

About TÜV SÜD's comprehensive ISO 19650 Compliance Program for Autodesk Construction Cloud

TÜV SÜD's comprehensive ISO 19650 Compliance Program includes over 750 construction-related, practice-oriented test criteria and multiple, in-depth audits of Autodesk Construction Cloud CDE, enabling a reliable statement on full compliance with the requirements for digital information management. As a CDE is intended to be a lifecycle-encompassing platform for the management and optimisation of construction data, Autodesk Construction Cloud was tested both for the processes of the project phase in accordance with ISO 19650-1:2018 and ISO 19650-2:2018, as well as for use in the management phase of buildings in accordance with ISO 19650-3:2020.

To ensure a practical BIM / IDD project capability of Autodesk Construction Cloud, in addition to the formal compliance with all measures integrated into the ISO 19650 standard, TÜV SÜD has developed, implemented, tested and approved an ISO 19650 Proof Template. This Proof Template for Autodesk Construction Cloud served as a test bed over the period of two months that TÜV SÜD has used to test and audit any ISO 19650 required menu, function, setting and feature of the solution.
